Hyundai Motor India Ltd’s flagship three-row SUV, the Alcazar, is set to receive a significant facelift as it hits the market today (September 9). Often viewed as a ‘stretched’ version of the Creta, the Alcazar has struggled to establish its own identity. With this facelift, Hyundai aims to give the Alcazar a unique character, distinguishing it from its sibling models.
What’s new in the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar?
The latest version introduces dual-zone climate control and digital key access, allowing users to lock and unlock the SUV via smartphones or smartwatches, adding a modern, tech-savvy convenience to the driving experience.
The updated Hyundai Alcazar seamlessly integrates advanced technology with a suite of new features, including a connected infotainment and cluster system, embedded voice recognition, and dual-zone automatic temperature control (DATC). These enhancements ensure a tech-forward, connected experience for both drivers and passengers.
Available Variants and Colour Options
The facelifted Alcazar will be available in four variants: Executive, Prestige, Platinum, and Signature. Hyundai has expanded the SUV’s colour options, offering nine exterior shades, including new hues like Robust Emerald Matte, Ranger Khaki, and Titan Grey Matte. These choices provide buyers with greater flexibility to personalise their vehicles.
Engine Options
The 2024 Alcazar continues to offer two engine options. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque, with choices between a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine delivers 113 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, available with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Exterior Design and Styling
The facelifted Alcazar features several design upgrades, including a dark chrome radiator grille for a sleek look, quad-beam LED headlamps, sequential LED turn signals, and diamond-cut alloy wheels that enhance the SUV’s modern appeal. Additional features like bridge-type roof rails and LED tail lamps add both style and functionality, while the horizon LED positioning lamps and H-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) provide a futuristic touch.
Interior Comfort and Enhancements
Inside, the Alcazar offers a premium atmosphere with dual-tone interiors in noble brown and haze navy. Comfort features include ventilated seats for the first and second rows, 8-way power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, and a wireless charger for both rows. The six-seater variant also features second-row captain seats with a seat-mounted armrest and thigh cushion extension for added comfort. New horizontal AC vents and ambient lighting contribute to a luxurious feel, while memory seats with a welcome retract feature add convenience.
Design Enhancements Noted During Testing
Spy images from recent testing reveal several design updates for the facelifted Alcazar. These include a refreshed front fascia, a redesigned dual-tone grille, and an upgraded LED headlight setup with new daytime running lights (DRLs). Although the overall road presence remains similar to the current model, these enhancements contribute to a more striking and refined appearance.
Will the New Alcazar Feature ADAS?
The facelifted Alcazar will include advanced features such as front-ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera with dynamic guidelines, and Hyundai’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These additions aim to enhance both comfort and safety on the road.
Current Price of the Alcazar
The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar is available in both six-seater and seven-seater configurations. The existing Alcazar, which has been on sale since 2021, is priced between Rs 16.77 lakh and Rs 21.28 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted model is expected to be priced at approximately Rs 50,000 higher, reflecting the new design and feature updates.
